Helpful Caregivers Provide Exceptional After-Surgery Senior Care

Whether you've just had a joint replacement, an organ transplant, or any other invasive surgery that requires you to stay in the hospital for a few days afterwards in order to remain under medical supervision while you recover, you can begin to feel lonely and depressed.

At A-1 Home Care in Huntington Beach, we provide helpful after-surgery caregivers for all seniors who are left to recover on their own in the uncomfortable setting of a hospital room, as we firmly believe the secret to a quicker recovery involves having an uplifted spirit along the way.

After all, many senior patients who are stuck in the hospital following surgery are in pain, feel very weak, and are uncomfortable about doing too much because their doctor(s) told them that doing so could compromise the whole purpose of the surgical procedure.

That's why our Huntington Beach care givers look to lift up your spirits so that you can be on your way out of the hospital doors and back into the comfort of your own home as quickly as possible! Each A-1 Home Care hospital sitter at your disposal is adept in companion services that go beyond simple chit-chat-- because their idea of "keeping you company" involves actively interacting with you, picking things up from your home that you'd like with you there in your hospital room, and all the other things that help turn an initial relationship into a lasting friendship.

Depression and Parkinson's Disease Care in Huntington Beach

The topic of depression is coming up more and more frequently in the news as celebrities and others are speaking out about their personal struggles with the illness. While many claim that they are "feeling depressed" when they are feeling sad and lonely, clinical depression is not a subject to speak lightly about. Depression is a common mental disorder that globally affects more than 350 million people of all ages. Symptoms include, but are not limited to, fatigue, feelings of worthlessness, insomnia, irritability, and thoughts of suicide. If you or a loved one are experiencing symptoms of depression (more can be found on WebMD), it is advised to speak with a mental health professional and seek treatment.

Recent studies show that there is a link between depression and Parkinson's Disease. In a recent article in the New York Times, Swedish researchers found in their case study that those suffering from depression are at an increased risk for Parkinson's disease. The more severe the depression, the higher the patient is at risk. Dr. Nordstrom, the lead author of the study, said that the damage to the brain from depression could be causing the increase in Parkinson's Disease. Or, perhaps that in the early stages of Parkinson's, patients are more prone to depression.

Whatever the case may be, if you or your loved one has Depression or Parkinson's, A-1 Home Care can assist you and your family with providing compassionate care for your loved one. Hospice Caregivers Treat Huntington Beach Patients Tenderly

The modern hospice movement emerged in the 1970's, when patients started to organize against hospital intensive care as the only option of treatment. Hospice Caregiving is utilized when the patient is suffering from an incurable illness and chooses to live in a way that maximizes quality of life and comfort over aggressive treatment. This, however, does not mean that all hope for recovery is lost. Although its not often the case, there have been patients who have recovered as a result of their Hospice care.

A-1 Home Care provides empathetic and loving Huntington Beach Hospice Caregivers for seniors and elders in local areas. Our agency has over 20 years of experience providing live in and hourly care. Caregivers Available for Seniors in Huntington Beach

The beaches and parks are packed in Huntington Beach and that is, of course, because Summer vacations has already arrived. It is for the most part an exciting time as the children are out of school and there's more time to be with the family, but there are some cons to this change in season. The rise in temperatures, though not serious for the average adult, has potential to cause harm for sick individuals, elderly seniors and young infants. Southern California weather is, for the most part, very brisk and fresh but it does have tendency every year to peak around the high 90's.

What A-1 Home Care can offer as a solution to these concerns are in home and live in caregivers that will tend to such elderly patients and ensure that their environment is one without harm. As our caregivers are trained in Senior Care, they are well aware of the dangers of being under the son for too long, along with other aspects that comes with senior health. They are available for all kind of shifts, whether it's Overnight, or 24 Hours, our home health aides are guaranteed to provide care and comfort.

Heart Healthy Guide/ A-1 Home Care Huntington Beach

A-1 Home Care will be focusing on heart healthy meals for this month's National Heart Awareness Month. February is loaded with hearts, romance, and Valentines Day. We think it would be a romantic gesture to prepare a clean and fresh meal for a loved one this month!

Fish and shellfish are notoriously healthy, for the reason that they contain a special type of fat called omega 3 fatty acids. Research suggests that consuming such fats lowers one's risk of contracting heart disease. We encourage you to try this recipe that we found from food.com.

Yummy Christ Morning Treats/ Happy Holidays from all of us at A-1 Home Care!

It could be me, but Christmas always conjures up memories of warm cookies, heady cinnamon ciders, and roasted turkeys. It's a food centric holiday, as much as it is about family and connection with tradition. Food is a wonderful way to bond with our loved ones. As we sit in the kitchen cooking together, or pass down family recipes down the generations, we forge intimate bonds with those closest to us.

A-1 Home Care fully appreciates the magic of giving, and encourage you to try a new recipe out to debut to your family. We chose Christmas Morning Cinnamon Rolls from food.com for a beautiful breakfast treat.

Ingredients
  • 1 packet instant yeast
  • 1 cup unsweetened almond milk
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 3 cups all purpose flour
  • 1/2 Tbsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup + 1 Tbsp sugar, divided
Instructions
  1. In a large sauce pan (or in a bowl in the microwave at 30 sec increments), heat the almond milk and 3 Tbsp butter until warm and melted, never reaching boiling. Remove from heat and let cool to 110 degrees, or the temperature of bath water. It should be warm but not too hot or it will kill the yeast.
  2. Transfer mixture to a large mixing bowl and sprinkle on yeast. Let activate for 10 minutes, then add 1 Tbsp sugar and the salt and stir.
  3. Next add in flour 1/2 cup at a time, stirring as you go. The dough will be sticky. When it is too thick to stir, transfer to a lightly floured surface and knead for a minute or so until it forms a loose balll. Rinse your mixing bowl out, coat it with canola or grapeseed oil, and add your dough ball back in. Cover with plastic wrap and set in a warm place to rise for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  4. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough into a thin rectangle. Brush with 3 Tbsp melted butter and top with 1/4 cup sugar and 1/2 – 1Tbsp cinnamon.
  5. Starting at one end, tightly roll up the dough and situate seam side down. Then with a serrated knife or a string of floss, cut the dough into 1.5 – 2 inch sections and position in a well-buttered 8×8 square or comparable sized round pan (you should have about 10 rolls). Brush with remaining 2 Tbsp butter (melted) and cover with plastic wrap. Set on top of the oven to let rise again while you preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  6. Once the oven is hot, bake rolls for 25-30 minutes or until slightly golden brown. Let cool for a few minutes and then serve immediately.
We wish you a wonderful holiday season with your family and friends. Our caregivers are available for overnight and weekend shifts over the holiday weekend.

Happy Holidays from all of us at A-1 Home Care!
